This Privacy Policy explains how Kuachi The Barber collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our booking site and related services.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal information:

  • Account information — name, email address, and phone number
  • Appointment data — booking history, service preferences, and scheduling details
  • Service address — collected only when you book mobile delivery; used for that appointment and not retained beyond it
  • Precise location — for mobile (at-home) appointments, the barber's real-time device location is collected while they are en route, so you can see their live position and estimated arrival; collected only during an active trip and not retained afterward (see “Location Information” below)
  • Payment information — processed securely through Square; we do not store your full card details on our servers
  • Usage data — general interaction data to improve the booking experience
  • Diagnostic & crash data — when the app crashes or errors, technical details (error messages, device model, OS version, app version, and performance metrics) are collected to help us find and fix problems. This data is not used to track you and is not linked to your identity.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to provide and improve our services:

  • Scheduling and managing your appointments
  • Sending booking confirmations and reminders via email and SMS
  • "On my way" status updates and live arrival tracking (location + estimated time) for mobile bookings while the barber is en route
  • Processing payments for services
  • Communicating important updates about your account

Location Information

Mobile (at-home) appointments involve real-time location sharing so you can see your barber on the way:

  • When the barber begins a trip to a mobile appointment, the app collects their device's precise location and updates it periodically until they arrive or the trip ends. You see this as a live map and estimated arrival time on your booking page.
  • Location is collected only while a trip is active. The app shows an on-screen indicator while it is sharing, and collection stops when the appointment is marked arrived, completed, or cancelled. We store only the most recent position for the active trip and clear it when the trip ends — we do not keep a location history or trail.
  • With permission, the app may continue to update location in the background while a trip is active, so the map stays current if the phone is locked. You can stop location sharing at any time in your device settings.
  • We use location solely to provide live arrival tracking for your appointment. We do not use it for advertising or profiling, do not track you across other apps or websites, and do not sell or share it.

Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party providers to deliver the booking experience. Each has their own privacy policy:

  • Supabase — database hosting and user authentication
  • Square — payment processing and deposit holds
  • Twilio — SMS notifications
  • Google Maps — address geocoding and service-area validation
  • Sentry — crash reporting and performance diagnostics, used only to detect and fix errors in the app

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. Your mobile phone number will never be sold, shared, or distributed to third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.

Data Retention

We retain your account data and appointment history for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal information from our systems within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (e.g. tax records for payment transactions).

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — update or correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion — request that we delete your account and personal data
  • Opt-out — unsubscribe from non-essential communications at any time

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):

  • The right to know what personal information is collected, used, and shared
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information
  • The right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (TLS/SSL), secure authentication, and access controls. Payment data is handled by Square and never touches our servers. While no system is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to safeguard your data against unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.

Children's Privacy

Kuachi The Barber is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
